Post Clash in the Corn 2025

On October 17th and 18th, Team Neutrino participated in Clash in the Corn in West Des Moines. This was our second year participating at the first FRC offseason event in Iowa! Not only did we compete, but team members volunteered in many roles, such as food prep, field reset, and concessions. Our team also hosted two conferences: one was a code exchange, where teams could learn how other teams code their robots, and one was a how to for the Impact award, allowing more teams to effectively present about their teams impact in their community. We even presented our world famous Spaghetti award!

We had a very successful event on the robot side, with Team Neutrino and Levithan placing third overall, and was the first pick of the second alliance. We ended up winning the event for the second year in a row! Our “second team”, Team Nutrition, competed with our off-season robot, Calorie, which was a modification to our 2024 robot Valkyrie that our students did over the summer to advance their design and coding skills. Team Nutrition placed 10th overall, and was the first pick of the fourth alliance, and got third place as an alliance in the playoffs. Overall, it was a fun experience for the team and we were able to use this time to train new members, refine our skills, and continue our lasting impact in the Iowa FRC community.

Thank you to our sponsors for funding our team and everyone that watched on compete virtually or physically!

2025 FLL Blastoff!

From June 16-20 and 23-27, 2025, Team Neutrino the second annual youth summer camps for 4-5th and 6-8th graders to participate in a mock FIRST LEGO League (FLL) season. Through this camp, FLL Blastoff, we inspire kids to join the thriving FLL community in Ames and pursue STEM in the future. Members of Team Neutrino spent countless hours planning and preparing for FLL Blastoff, even through the intensive build and competition seasons. We also dedicated Outreach Camp to train camp leaders and volunteers, ensuring a well-executed camp where students learn how to build a LEGO Spike Prime robot and code it to complete missions.

This year, we chose the 2019 FLL game, CityShaper, challenging campers to complete various missions with their robot such as lowering a LEGO crane and moving LEGO buildings. The campers loved the bridge mission, which created a unique opportunity to interact with the team at the table across from them. Their robots could collide, and even fall off the bridge! This led to an effort to create the best mechanism to push robots off, or protect their robot from attack! On the final day, we ran 3-5 actual matches, giving the campers an opportunity to see their hard work in action during a mock FLL competition.

We can’t wait for the next FLL season this fall!
