Story County 4-H FIRST® Robotics Competes at Indiana Robotics Invitational on July 19th-20th

FIRST® Robotics Team 3928, Team Neutrino from Story County 4-H in Nevada, Iowa, sponsored by Quality Manufacturing Corp, Sauer-Danfoss, CIT Signature Transportation, John Deere, Aren Hill, J.C. Penney, Story County 4-H Foundation, Story County Fair Board, competed in the Indiana Robotics Invitational on July 19th and 20th in Indianapolis, Indiana. They competed in this year’s game, ULTIMATE ASCENT™.

Team Neutrino ranked 14th out of a field of 69. The team unfortunately did not advance to the Elimination round.

Team Neutrino is a Story County 4-H FIRST Robotics Competition team. Finishing their second season, they were ranked 88th in the world (OPR).

FIRST, For Inspiration and Recognition of Science and Technology, was founded by inventor Dean Kamen and MIT professor Dr. Woodie Flowers in 1992 to inspire young people’s interest and participation in science and technology, and to lead them into STEM career fields. Teams spent six weeks building a 120 lb. robot to compete in this year’s game, Ultimate Ascent.

Teams are challenged to build a robot that can shoot frisbees into ten foot high goals both autonomously, and while under the control of human drivers. At the end of the match, teams receive additional points if their robot can climb a 90 inch-tall pyramid structure near the center of the field.
